Abstract

The solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas (SPTP), also known as Frantz tumor, is a rare lesion, accounting for less than 3% of neoplasms in this organ. It is more prevalent in women in their third decade of life and has a low malignant potential. The aim of this study is to report the case of a 27-year-old female patient who was found to have a lesion in the head of the pancreas on imaging exams. To better characterize the finding, a fine-needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy guided by endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) was performed. A hypoechoic, heterogeneous, lobulated, oval-shaped lesion measuring 44 mm × 37 mm was observed in the uncinate process, with regular contours, well-defined margins, and no involvement of adjacent vessels. Histopathological analysis revealed positivity for β-catenin (nuclear pattern), CD10, CD56, CD99 (dot-like), cyclin D1, TFE3, and androgen receptor, findings consistent with the diagnosis of Frantz tumor.
