Abstract

Introduction: Ozone therapy has been widely discussed as an integrative practice in public health. However, its implementation in primary care faces challenges related to regulation, professional acceptance and infrastructure. Objective: This study aimed to investigate the perceptions of primary care professionals about the adoption of ozone therapy in public health, identifying barriers, benefits and strategies for its implementation. Method: This qualitative, exploratory and descriptive study was based on semistructured interviews with 15 primary care professionals. The data were analyzed via the content analysis technique and categorized via NVivo 15 software. Results: These findings indicate a low level of knowledge among health professionals, although their therapeutic potential for healing and infection control is recognized. The main barriers identified include the lack of training and the limitation of structural and logistical resources. Suggested strategies for its implementation include formal training, institutional regulation and gradual introduction into the public network. Conclusion: Ozone therapy has the potential to be incorporated into primary care, provided that there is scientific support and adequate regulation. Additional studies are needed to strengthen the evidence base and support public health policies.
