Pneumonia caused by Legionella pneumophila: report of the second Brazilian case

Abstract

The first case of pneumonia due to Legionella pneumophila diagnosed in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) is reported. The diagnosis has been endorsed by the Center for Disease Control (Atlanta U.S.A.) by means of Indirect Immunofluorescent technique (dilutions of 1:128 in the acute phase and 1:512 in the convalescent phase).
