Educação odontológica em meio aos obstáculos da pandemia da COVID-19: reflexões sobre os estágios curriculares

Resumo

Introdução: Devido às medidas tomadas para conter a pandemia da COVID-19, os cursos de graduação em Odontologia em todo o mundo tiveram de interromper as atividades presenciais e implementar métodos de ensino alternativos. O objetivo deste estudo foi investigar o impacto da pandemia de COVID-19 no ensino durante estágio curricular obrigatório de cursos de Odontologia. Métodos: Foi realizado um estudo transversal com a coleta de dados de docentes (n=53) e discentes (n=132) matriculados no estágio curricular obrigatório de duas universidades brasileiras. O questionário incluiu a coleta de dados demográficos e tópicos relacionados com o acesso a atividades remotas, a organização de atividades práticas presenciais e o impacto da pandemia de COVID-19 sobre o ensino. Resultados: Para os discentes, o ensino presencial é o formato que oferece a melhor transferência de conhecimentos e a melhor assimilação dos conteúdos. Em contrapartida, a maioria dos estudantes considera que o ensino a distância é mais moderno e que a sua aplicação permite uma melhor gestão do tempo. A maioria dos docentes (69,8%) também relatou que o planejamento de aulas remotas demorou mais tempo em comparação com as aulas presenciais. Conclusão: A pandemia da COVID-19 teve um impacto significativo no processo de aprendizagem em Odontologia. A identificação dos fatores que impactaram o ensino é crucial para o desenvolvimento de novas estratégias enfrentar desafios semelhantes no futuro.
