Written in the most solitary moment of Augusto Boal’s professional life, A tempestade brings not only a historical analysis of the numerous political and artistic defeats suffered by the Latin American left, but also an answer to the paralysis largely promoted by the dictatorships since the 1960’s. This reading takes as a starting point the dialectical relation established by the play both with its historical moment and with the theatrical work produced by Boal until then.
