Abstract

This study analyzes the theatrical performance of Señora Carrar's Rifles (Brecht) designed by Flávio Império in 1968. Articles and critical texts of the time were selected to describe the impact of this performance in the Brazilian and international contexts. This performance conducts a unique synthesis between two models of theater that are often placed in opposition: the brechtinian epic theater, already practiced in Brazil, and the innovative ritual theater, influenced by the work of Artaud. It is a theatrical performance that expanded the performing resources associated with the political theater, engaging countercultural issues.
