Quality of life dimensions of homeless elderly in São Paulo

This study aimed to understand the dimensions of self-reported quality of life by elderly homeless in São Paulo and to know the meanings of quality of life in populations exposed to social vulnerability. We interviewed six elderly living in a shelter that had spent a short period living on the streets. Data were collected using in depth interview and analyzed through thematic analysis. To elderly, quality of life was associated to the services offered by the shelter, to having a job, health and independence, social participation and plans for the future. The mensuration of quality of life in this population with social vulnerability is a challenge and to help services and programs.Downloads
