Eros: from the spectacle to the eroticism that still awaits a spectator

Abstract

This study analyzes Rachel Daysi’s film Eros (2024). It is made by a montage of images captured using a device: the director asked people to film their “intimacies” in motels. It aimed to show how the film evinces contemporary mutations in the notion of intimidation and the limits between the images of amateurs in private life and the spectacle. Furthermore, it stresses how, in Eros, the feminine gender functions as an element that destabilizes a certain hierarchy of gaze distribution.
