The School of Kiev in Colombia; the legacy of Alexander Zavadskij

Abstract

In this paper, we give a brief biography of Alexander Georgievich Zavadskij describing his work in the eld of the theory of representations of algebras and the impact of such work in the investigation of the theory of representation in Colombia. In particular, we describe the role of professor Zavadskij in the introduction of the theory of matrix problems and the poset representation theory in this country.
