Como caiu o valente?: considerações sobre os relatos da morte de Saul

Os livros de Samuel abrigam dois relatos distintos sobre a morte do rei Saul (1 Sm 31:1-7; 2 Sm 1:1-16) e, ao longo dos séculos, os estudiosos têm proposto várias soluções no intuito de entender essa questão. Além de apresentar e discutir algumas delas, este artigo indica como a introdução e a estrutura de 2 Sm 1 evidenciam aspectos relevantes na história que descreve a derrocada de Saul e elevação de Davi, contribuindo para delinear tanto a personalidade do novo rei quanto a função da elegia (2 Sm 1:17-27) na narrativa.
