Dentre os muitos pontos da identidade judaica enfocado por Josefo em suas obras, uma em particular, se relaciona com Jerusalém. Membro do grupo sacerdotal e um hierosolomita por nascimento, este historiador justifica a presença dessa cidade como um símbolo unificador dos judeus em todo mundo. Partindo de uma ótica historiográfica, este espectador privilegiado faz uma representação da cidade, manifesto em palavras e em figurações mentais imagéticas. O artigo que se segue elege alguns episódios da história de Jerusalém e que são considerados singulares para o entendimento desse centro urbano para Josefo.
