Abstract

Observing the dash that divides journalism and literature can mean the evaluation of a tenuous line or the comparison between distant galaxies. Such paradox is maintained by the constant displacement of borders, especially in hybrid formats, and it is impossible to definitively establish the ethical and aesthetic limits that enclose each narrative. Based on this inaccuracy, this study uses the category of Erfahrung (experience) present in Walter Benjamin to investigate the tensions of the storyteller in “The unwomanly face of war”, by Svetlana Aleksiévitch. The aim is discussing the importance of New Journalism as an effective counter-hegemonic proposal to the mass media.
