A survey was made to identify the specific aspects which influenced effectiveness of policies and practices in the training, development and education (TD&E) for information technology in the financial institution studied. Review of pertinent Brazilian and international literature subsidized elaboration of an interview script. The script together with documentary analysis about training procedures conducted in 2005 and 2006, identified aspects that, according to perceptions of five system managers and five system analysts, positively and negatively influenced results of TD&E policies and practices. Analyses of the replies and comparisons with literature revealed aspects specifically related to this IT area that were productive in this respect. Difficulty in consolidating knowledge and abilities because of IT area dynamism and the need to implement a permanent program to support the preparation of new analysts were important aspects observed.Downloads
