Abstract

The article will attempt to analyze the possibilities of representation of racial conflicts in a specific Brazilian telenovela called Duas caras (TV Globo, 21h, 2007-2008). The focus will be on the interracial love affair involving the main characters, Evilásio and Julia. Throughout the telenovela discourse we will
attempt to investigate the process of Black-Brazilian identity representation. The main resources are the writings of Muniz Sodré, Kabengele Munanga, Frantz Fanon and Homi Bhabha.
