Testes de função ventilatória e obesidade

Com a finalidade de conhecer o comportamento das provas funcionais respiratórias nos pacientes obesos, os autores as realizaram em 86 pacientes, sendo 31 homens e 55 mulheres, que foram separados de acordo com o peso, em obesidade mórbida e não-mórbida. A idade dos pacientes era de 30 ± 15 anos e o peso de 84,0 ± 17,2 kg, com IMC médio de 31,5. Todos realizaram provas funcionais quando da internação, e consideramos neste estudo, a capacidade vital forçada, o volume expiratório forçado e a ventilação voluntária váxima. Os pacientes com obesidade mórbida apresentaram, em média, valores menores de ventilação voluntária máxima quando comparados com os obesos não-mórbidos, caracterizando então uma alteração restritiva, com p = 0,024.
