Abstract

Due to a great number of haemophilic patients with repetitive ankle haemartrosis, who attended frequently for treatment on Haemophilic Outpatients Rehabilitation Clinic of the Reabilitation Department of General Hospital School of Medicine of São Paulo State University, the authors decided to examine them by a protocol where, along with the physical exams and some radiographic measurements, it would proceed a static and dynamic pedometric exams. The results were the baseline for the manufacturing of orthopedics insoles as well as for the prescription of ankle stabilizers, everytime that an ankle lateral instability or lenght discrepancies was presented in the patient’s limb. The continuous use of these orthoses has avoided, for the last six month, the occurrance of other ankle haemarthrosis in the evaluated patients. The noticing of this event allow the authors to assert that the articular deviations in the repetitive activities , like the gait , establish proper conditions to the occurrence of haemarthrosis. Therefore , the correction of these deviations by the use of feet orthosis, stabilizing the joints, would be the better way to avoid repetitive haemarthrosis. The good results obtained until nowadays, after observing the patients during six month , motivates the authors to develop two different researches: for unstable haemophilic ankles and for unstable haemophilic knees.
