The analys1s of 2,444 industrial injuries that occurred Juring 1948 in 150 textile establishments in the city of São Paulo, involving a total of 28,746 employees, showed, according to the rules of the American Standards Association, a frequency rate of 35.43, a severity rate of 1.41, and an average time charge of 40 days per case. Comparing these findings with the corresponding values observed by the North American textile industry, it is concluded that, although the average degtee of resultant disability is appreciably less in São Paulo, the high frequency and severity rates found bear witness to the gravity of the industrial accident problem in the local textile industry and demand the institution of preventive measures.Downloads
