Abstract

The author describes Culicoides ruizi, based on specimens collected in the locality of Aruanã, State of Goiaz, Brazil. This species is nearly C. insignis Lutz, 1913, C. foxi Ortiz, 1950 and C. trinidadensis Hoffman, 1925. The differential character more evident, is the presence of three pale spots in the R5 cell of the wing.
