VACINAÇÃO CONTRA A POLIOMIELITE EM PETRÓPOLIS

Abstract

A campaign for polio vaccination using Sabin oral vaccine was performed in Petropolis during the week of August 28 through September 2, 1961. Fifty five per cent of the population between 4 months and 6 years of age were immunized, totalling 11,089 children. The campaign used all available channels of communication with the public trying to motivate parents to take their chilctren to the vaccination clinics. Data collectect showed that schools, radio, neighbors and friends or relatives were the most important sources of referrals.
