A PROFESSÔRA PRIMÁRIA, O ESCOLAR E A EDUCAÇÃO SANITÁRIA

This paper analyses the school child, the school and the enculturation of the student, school health education and the teacher in terms of school health. The school child belongs in the age group of lowest mortality rate in São Paulo City. The three major causes of death among school children are ( 1960 records) : accidents (19,7%), neoplasmas (11,8%) and heart diseases (8,2%) followed by influenza and pneumonia (7,6%). To prepare the teacher for his role in the school health program, the author recommends that the discipline Biology and Hygiene which is offered in the curriculum of Teachers Colleges, be given under two separa te headings: (1) Biology and (2) Health Education. The paper concludes suggesting a program considering priorities for school health activities in São Paulo City.Downloads
