RESULTADOS GERAIS DO RECENSEAMENTO TUBERCULINO TORÁCICO DA UNIVERSIDADE DE SÃO PAULO NO PERíODO DE 1936-1944

The author presents data on the resultss of chest X-rays and tuberculin tests on 4.. 519 first yea1· students in the University of São Paulo, Brasil. Of the total, 3.157 were males and 1. 3()2 were females. 1º) Tuberculin Tests: Males: - Allergic - 75,39%; Non allergic - 24,60% Females: - Allergic - 63,03%; Non allergic - 36,97%. Total: - Alergic - 71,51%; Non allergic - 28,48% Of those found to be allergic, 57,07% reacted positively to the Von Pirquet test while only 14,44% reacted' to the Mantoux test in a clilution of 1:10. A study of the annual incidence of infection revealed a drop in the percentage of positive n:actors among the students examined, from 90,84o/G in 1939 to 52,95% in 1944. 2) X-ray Examinations of the Chest: First Year Students Males - 3020 - 37 cases of tuberculosis - 1,22%. Females - 1260 - 6 cases of tuberculosis - 0,47%.Total - 4280 - 43 cases of tuberculosis - 1,009%. The cases of tuberculosis referred to above were clinically active; in addition there was an incidence of 0,20% of inactive, or presumably cured tuberculosis and 0,33% of suspicious cases.
