Abstract

The religion of Candomblé is widely spread around Brazil and it rescues the African traditions that influenced and still influence the Brazilian culture. The matter of the body in this religion is of main importance: it is through the body that the religion explicits itself. The body in Candomblé is the cosmos reflex; it is a symbolic system which represents the image man makes of the universe.
