Abstract

The aim of this work is to study the times, the spaces and the places in
Gerais de Minas reported on the novel Campo Geral (Miguilim) from João Guimaraes
Rosa in which the personage’s perceptions of the spaces in the hinterland are lived,
imagined from the moment of the social and spatial representations molded by culture,
recollection, narration, collective memory described of the hinterland by an eight years
old boy with his family, his friends and his life with the hinterland inhabitants. The work
also searches to think about the Campo Geral represented by the writer in the 1950s
and the migration of the hinterland inhabitants that continues to occur in the region of
North Minas Gerais nowadays. In this perspective the discussions about the
construction, reconstruction and appropriation of the spaces in the hinterlands of Minas
Gerais indicate the path of research of the relation between man and the environment
where they live, standing out the affective relation of the nomadic population with the
place and the passages in and of the hinterland in search for spaces of work.
