Abstract

This article deals with the mobility of South Brazil population to the national agricultural frontiers areas. It probes to identify which factors has contributed, firstly, to permit that the foreign families and its descendents, settled in the South Brazil, were mobilized to search new spaces of agricultural production. This in the first years of the colonization. From that, is established the south stream, the principal in the occupation of the agricultural frontiers of the country. Its radiant core is Rio Grande do Sul State. Since the twenties, this stream sprawls itself continually to the north and, nowadays, it is almost in every states of the Brazilian federation, chiefly in those ones with the presence of cerrados areas, where this migrants begin to develop modernized agriculture. In this sense, the article analyses the role performed by the south migrants in the frontiers areas, identifying the new economic and space dynamics. In this article is priority to identify the action of this migration stream in the northeast cerrados and the transformations produced in the last years, such in the space as in the urban reality.
