Pernambucanos, thou are Portuguese: Nature and political models of the 1817 and 1824 revolutions

This article focuses on the interpretations of the 1817 and 1824 Revolutions in Pernambuco, Brazil. It also analyzes how political and institutional models from Spanish America were adopted in the Portuguese America's provinces. At last, it suggests that different notions of the word "patria" (homeland) were common among those historical experiences.Downloads
