This article analyzes the first widely documented electoral deepfake in Brazil, circulated during the 2022 presidential campaign. The piece, shared on social media and messaging apps, simulated the presentation of an Ipec poll on Jornal Nacional, attributing to anchor Renata Vasconcellos false results that reversed the actual voting intention order. Based on Gomes’ (2012) methodology for media product analysis, which integrates technical-formal, narrative, and discursive dimensions, the study identifies the aesthetic, graphic, and performative resources mobilized to provide plausibility and authority to manipulated content. The appropriation of the newscast’s format and mode of address creates a convincing simulacrum, reinforced by lip-sync accuracy, vocal manipulation, and fidelity to its visual identity, operating as a strategic disinformation device and revealing risks to the integrity of public debate and the democratic process.
