Aberracirco: trans freak dramaturgies in the construction of (im)possible worlds

Is it possible to construct alternative imaginaries without being crushed by the historical, economic, and social ballast of colonization? Grounded in this question, I discuss the dramaturgical productions of Brazilian trans circus artists through what I have termed aberracirco – that is, contemporary freak circus practices. Specifically, I analyze Cabaret Delirium, a variety stage show conceived by Lua Marques, a non-binary artist, and performed in Desterro between 2025 and 2026. In dialogue with Jota Mombaça, Donna Haraway, Isadora Ravena, Lucas Dilacerda and Frantz Fanon, I examine how these aberrant fabulations challenge notions of humanity, civilization, and the limits of the possible.
