We examined external morphology and skeletal characters of Proceratophrys specimens with eyelid appendages to define species limits and distribution. Proceratophrys boiei occurs along the Atlantic Forest, from the State of Espírito Santo to the State of Santa Catarina, reaching transitional areas to the Cerrado, in the States of Minas Gerais and São Paulo, whose type-locality is Rio de Janeiro, not Bahia, as previously thought. Proceratophrys renalis is revalidated; its distribution comprises the Atlantic Forest, from the State of Paraíba to the south of the State of Bahia, reaching transitional areas between the Cerrado and Caatinga in the Jequitinhonha river drainage, in the State of Minas Gerais, and the caatinga domains between the States of Ceará and Paraíba. Two new species of Proceratophrys with eyelid appendages are presented, one from Ilha Grande, municipality of Angra dos Reis, State of Rio de Janeiro, and another from the Guaporé river drainage, in the State of Rondônia, whose distribution is the most occidental known for the genus.Downloads
