Nutritive value of sugarcane silage treated with levels of sodium hydroxide and ground corn ears

It was developed at Instituto de Zootecnia, Nova Odessa, SP, three experiments to evaluate the nutritive value of sugarcane silage treated with: 1) 0.50% urea, 2) 0.50% of urea plus 0.25% NaOH and 3) 0.50% urea plus 0.50% NaOH. In each of these experiments it was added at the time of ensiling, 40, 80 and 120 kg of ground corn ears/ton of sugarcane. Each experiment was in randomized complete block design with four replicates. The statistical analyses of the three experiments as a whole showed that NaOH and ground corn ears addition decrease the ethanol production in the sugarcane silage. The digestibility and intake of dry matter and total digestible nutrients (TDN) were increased with the addition of NaOH and ground corn ears in the sugarcane silage.Downloads
