This review examines En la boca del lobo, by Elvira Lindo, highlighting its interplay between fantastic literature, memory narrative, and contemporary social critique. The novel follows the memories of Julieta and Emma, two characters who wander like ghosts through a Spanish village marked by abandonment and oblivion. Narrated through multiple voices and structured in a non-linear temporality, the novel explores themes such as motherhood, abuse, sexuality, lesbian relationships, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lindo develops an aesthetics of memory rooted in affective spaces, drawing on concepts from Paul Ricœur and Maurice Blanchot to reflect on trauma and the dissolution of time. With deep social and political sensitivity, the author pays tribute to the vanishing way of life in rural villages and denounces the silencing of women, crafting a moving and critical narrative.
