O sábio estoico na prisão ou da “Desobediência Civil” de Thoreau

A proposta deste artigo é explorar criticamente o ensaio "Desobediência Civil" de autoria de H. D. Thoreau (1817-1862). Para tanto, após a introdução, no passo 2 é abordado o ensaio anterior àquele de título "O Serviço", o qual serve, no passo 3, como parâmetro para a interpretação do ensaio “Desobediência Civil”. Entre os dois, argumentar-se-á que há todo um conjunto de noções éticas antigas, estoicas notadamente, operando como pressupostos, no que se chega à conclusão de que a noção mesma de “desobediência civil” é carregada de conteúdos éticos antigos, o que lhe confere, por fim, um caráter eminentemente subjetivo de ação política.
