Levellers e os direitos e liberdades constitucionais

O objetivo deste texto é apresentar as principais idéias políticas dos levellers e avaliar a afirmação de alguns historiadores de que eles foram os primeiros democratas modernos que propuseram uma constituição escrita para a proteção de direitos considerados inalienáveis. Pretende discutir se nos seus panfletos, quase todos escritos entre 1646 e 1649, em especial nas diferentes versões do Agreement of the People, é possível identificar a defesa de direitos e liberdades constitucionais.
