The present article aims to analyse the predisposition to humanity, one of the three predispositions to the good presented by Kant in Religion within the Bounds of Bare Reason. The predisposition to humanity is described as "comparing self-love (for which reason is required)" (RGV 6: 27). Although there is a strong Rousseauist inspiration in this formulation, I will start by drawing a parallel with Rousseau's amour-propre. It becomes clear in this approach that the predisposition to humanity is a comparison that places equality as a normative ideal in the relationship with the other. Thus, it is possible to open an interpretative path for it to be properly considered a predisposition to the good (they further compliance with the law).
