Between the word and the action: Tocqueville's compromise with freedom
Keywords:
freedom, equality, democracy, writing and speech, actionAbstract
Investigations around foundations and perspectives of political philosophy carried us to the analysis of academical texts and political speeches made by Alexis de Tocqueville in order to elucidate the nexus between articulated word - as much as it expresses a philosophical thinking about political matters - and articulated word in political speeches - as much as it provides the passage from thinking to action. Going forward and backward from word to action, in company of Tocqueville, we are looking to understand how our author assumes and makes his fundamental compromises with liberty and, so doing, we come back to the subject of what are the inherent tasks of political philosophy.
