Catastrophic visions and uplifting inspirations: Kant between Bengel and Lessing

In order to account for one of the possible articulations between the concepts of nature and history, we propose to review some ideas presented by Immanuel Kant in an unfrequented but very interesting text, namely: “The End of All Things” (1794). It is an essay that addresses certain issues of interest from the perspective of a practical philosophy. Particularly in relation to the historical comprehension of a certain distorted view of events considered catastrophic and the difficulty of adopting thinking grounded in uplifting inspirations about the course of things. J. A. Bengel and G. E. Lessing would represent such positions, erroneous approaches from which the philosopher from Königsberg seeks to remain equidistant with his incisive and ironic reflections.
