Abstract

The article aims to construct a perspective of the Brazilian religious field and to discuss possibilities and problems for a history of the present of religion in Brazil. Firstly, we will try to apprehend a general overview of the Brazilian religious field present configuration, illuminated by ideas of Pierre Sanchis and Pierre Bourdieu. After that, we will discuss the dynamics of the field and its processes of historical formation, pointing out at the same time questions for a history of religion in present Brazil, and dealing with issues like memory, identity, politics, ethics, and the superposition of diverse temporalities in these processes.
