This article presents the different transformations of the countryside over the last two decades in Mozambique, and characterizes its singularities with respect to the culture of family agriculture, as well as its importance in social development. It also presents the antagonisms and struggles about the right to land, and the emergence of new divergences between the groups involved, after the introduction of the capitalist policies that came with the General Peace Agreement in 1992
