Abstract

This work aimed to investigate the oral narratives of women from rural areas, collecting reports and stories about life at Fazenda Guatapará. As specific objectives: (a) to discuss whether and how oral narratives converge or disintegrate into the frames of the produced memories, (b) to analyze the photographs of the farm together with the recollections, and (c) to contrast the narratives presented by the interlocutors in order to problematize their continuities and ruptures. The sample consisted of four women aged between 85 and 95 years, living in the rural area of a small city in the interior of the São Paulo State. The results allowed to perceive approximations between individual and collective memories, situating the farm as a common place of belonging and recognition of the personal trajectories.
