A MEMÓRIA, A HISTÓRIA DA MEMÓRIA E OUTRAS HISTÓRIAS AO LONGO DA ESTRADA REAL
Abstract
This article proposes a discussion of memories collected along the Estrada Real, on the way from Paraty to Tiradentes. Cultural values superimposed on multiple layers of time are representations through which residents perceive the identity of places. Experiences are lived and practiced based on cultural and social residue. The trip reinforces learning through histories heard and read in books by memorialists, making eloquent use of repetition in different languages. The heard voices evoked not only memory, but the history of memory, the way in which the meanings of the past were constructed in the present. The narrated content reveals links between slaves, cachaça and the Estrada Real. Places selected for study, including Paraty, Cruzília and Tiradentes, expressed feelings of belonging and continuity with the values of the past.
