The main objective of this article was to poresent critically the quantitative statistical model of Exploratory Factorial Analysis and to make explicit its possibilities of application. This model is part of the so called Multivariate Statistical Data Analysis, and it is used when there are has many independent variables being researched, for example, with the use of a scale of attitude of the Likert type. Thus, it begins presenting the context of the quantitative research, giving examples of the scale construction with its stages, since its construction up to the validation statistics. After, the model is applied in an example of analysis of the abilities that future engineering professionals demand for the future professional activities. The model is described with several peculiarities with the use SPSS software. Details on the rotation criteria of the model are presented as well as a test of internal reliability of the data (alpha of Cronbach).Downloads
