Portuguese immigrants, Identity, AmbiguityAbstract
The study focuses on Portuguese immigrants that arrived in São Paulo in the period from 1950 to 1963, when immigration was stirred up. Using the Oral History methodology, these immigrants were interviewed and spoke about their migratory course experience at different phases. Till now they maintain strong links with the origin village, where they are considered as "Brazilians". although with a different connotation of that attributed to the immigrants that returned towards the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century. Their identity is impregnated by the feeling of double belonging and reveals great ambiguity.Downloads
