Abstract

This article makes part of a broader research developed on the FAPESP Public Policy whose fundamental goal was to understand the aspects of live and struggle of people of every condition who dwell in the suburbs, thorugh their speech. In this research we tried to analyse the scholarly representations living in the outskirts of Ribeirão Preto City, State of São Paulo, on the space where they live. The empiric material was raised from the applied written narratives of students the 4th and the 5th grades in elementary degrees in the first semestre of 2000, in public (state and county net schools) which support the pupils of the suburbs referred in this research: Jardim Progresso, Conjunto Habitacional Avelino Palma, Jardim Anhanguera, Grajaúna, Novo Mundo and Zara, including its slums. The texts reveal one of the most cruel aspects of children social exclusion deprived to the access of the basic welfare of life.
