Abstract

The proposal for the Jewish nation involves emancipation, which led to the fragmentation of Jewish identity and emancipation. In the case of Jews, it replaced redemption and buried the Galut and the waiting for the Messiah. Those who emancipated themselves effectively assumed a Western European civil identity. Urbanization and mechanization brought about by the Industrial Revolution dissolved traditional Jewish habits, and subsequent generations assimilated into the secular European environment. Zionism emerged in the wake of this emancipation and was influenced by the conflict between emancipated and traditional Jews. The intention is to discuss proposals for the creation of the Jewish state and the conflict between traditional and emancipated Jews in Europe between the 19th and 20th centuries.
