This text presents the translation of the manifesto Avi (My Father) written by Itamar Ben-Avi, firstborn of Eliezer Ben-Yehuda, in 1927. The text aimed to pay tribute to his father, an important Zionist activist and ideologue, mainly responsible for the renovation and transformation of Hebrew into the vernacular language. Itamar Ben-Avi was the name adopted by Ben Tsion Ben-Yehuda, who became known as the “first Hebrew boy” of the modern era. Journalist and Zionist activist, Itamar followed in his father's footsteps and was responsible for creating new terms and new words that ended up being incorporated into the renewed language. He followed the fierce resistance faced by his father, and along with him, he could see the victory of transforming Hebrew into a language spoken by the new generations born in the Land of Israel, in the period before the foundation of the State.
