Abstract

The intellectual and literary pioneer Hava Shapiro exports the themes of her literary works from her world, lecturing on women, Judaism, and what is in between. In this short story HaCholemet (The Dreamer), Shapiro expresses the contradiction that women live in yearning for the freedom to choose their own destiny and for gender equality in the face of the role of motherhood. This is the third short story translated, in a series of three, with the theme of women pioneers in Hebrew Literature who wrote about feminism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
