Abstract

The issue of the feminine, as well as the concept of evil, unfolds widely throughout the Sefer Shoftim (book of Judges) – a prosaic biblical book that records the transition from a “family nation” to a strong monarchical state. Acsa emerges as a paradigm for the other female characters to come, who are inserted in a constant social tension demarcated by patriarchy confronted with female freedom and emancipation. From the work's records, the theme of evil appears in two related categories, used for political interest. The present study seeks to understand and explore the use of these concepts in the book of Judges (with special attention to the final part of the work), presenting the paths of a process of instrumentalization of evil that is practiced there through the use of a woman's story.
