A tupi playing the lute: the poetics of Mário de Andrade

This article discusses some aspects of the poetry of the great intellectual and artist Mário de Andrade. The writer from São Paulo was one of those responsible for the modernist renovation between the 1920s and 1930s, having acted on several fronts: literary production, essayism and art criticism, production and performance in the journalistic field, among other things. In general, the purpose of this article is to discuss some lines of force that make up the heterogeneous and complex poetry of Mário de Andrade starting from his landmark book of Brazilian modernism, the famous Pauliceia desvairada (1922), considered by literary critics as the first work of modern Brazilian poetry.
