To learn to read between the lines, to do comparative reading may be attitudes that give us greater independence and freedom from a standard, official language. By comparing newspaper headlines on the activities of Lula and Fernando Henrique, while they were candidates for Presidency, the article demonstrates how the press language can be "programmed" and make us captive of an intention.
