Abstract

This paper assesses media research trends, up to the early nineties, on violence conveyed by mass media. These studies were carried out in Europe, Venezuela (Latin America) and particularly in Spain, where the relation between media and terrorism was analyzed. It presents the main conclusions reached by researchers from different theoretical approaches, and points out the social concern on the subject.
