Abstract: The authors discuss how the changes that have happened in the work world, due to new technologies and to the increase in exploiting knowledge as merchandise, are reflected in education. They briefly analyze positions held by thinkers such as Adorno, Horkheimer and Habermas on communications, culture and education in capitalism, aiming at criticizing the process of turning education into an instrument for work. They also emphasize the importance of intellectual work and warn about such work can be appropriated by capital.
